I happened to have the day off today, so I was free to go off and run this morning instead of waiting until after work at night. This afternoon we will attend Angela's first track meet, where I hear she will run the mile, and then later we'll be at the school for her induction into the National Junior Honor Society. Big
day for Angela.
It rained hard last night and was overcast this morning, but the weather man said there'd be no rain again today until this evening, so it seemed safe to go out. I headed for English Landing, since I was tired of climbing the hills around the house.
Despite all the rain last night - we got pounded pretty well for about an hour, and then it rained lightly for quite a while - the trail in the park was well drained and totally navigable. At mid morning on a work day, there were very few people on it.
My legs felt good again today, just like yesterday, but I didn't care much about speed. I started slow, but eventually worked my way into a pretty fast pace. After a 9:45 opening mile, I was in the low 9's the rest of the way, and at 8:27 for the last mile. The overall pace was 9:07, so the run qualified for "tempo" status.
Already have 20 miles for the week, with one more run to go.
