Distance: 7.1 miles
Time: 1:04:28
Average: 9:05
Run type: Run
Location: English Landing Park
Weather: 68, low humidity.
Aches: Slight left arch
Injuries: None
Observations: 1) Quite a few people on the trail on a Monday morning, including high school or college cross country or soccer types.
2. Farm trail choked off a mile out by rogue corn.
Thoughts: 1. Thinking about what the Des Moines marathon will be like. Hilly? Flat? Warm? Cool? Crowded? What's my strategy? No answers, just thoughts.
2. Boston keeps crossing my mind. I used to think it wasn't important, and I think I still mostly feel that way. Still, if I'm going to train, I might as well have an ultimate goal in mind, and Boston is a good goal to have.
3. Back to Des Moines: my goal is a good run, and my expection is that it will be under 4 hours.
4. Couldn't get the tune "Oh, Sherrie" out of my head for some reason, and especially the line "Oh I must have been a dreamer." I know not what it means, if anything.
Session comments: I adopted a Hal Higdon training schedule for Des Moines, and it called for 3 miles today and 7 Tuesday, but I switched those days around. Legs were in good shape after Saturday's 13 followed by 6 hours of standing at the Special Olympics. Arch ache was from the standing.
