As if navigating the heat isn't hard enough, last night our air conditioner broke down, so there was no cool house to come home to after this morning's run.
The temperature was 78 degrees at 5:15, so it felt better outside than in, where it was closer to 84 (and that makes for a restless night). A slight change in the workout regimen called for 6 miles with 2 of those miles at marathon pace. I typically do that anyway, so this was mostly a change on paper.
I opened with a 10:35 and a 9:34, then made sure to get my marathon-pace miles in: 9:07, 8:33, 8:21 and 8:08. The last half mile was done at an 8:00 pace. So my 6.5 miles were done in 58:21, for an 8:59 overall pace.
