After two days in bed fighting a cold - and missing the two best days of the week for running - I got out Wednesday for 7 miles in my neighborhood.
I wasn't sure how my body would respond to a workout, so I vowed to go slow all the way. Helping with that decision was the hot and humid weather.
I started out thinking I'd go 5, but my slow pace allowed me to go farther. Rather than feeling weak because of my cold, I felt strong because of the three-day layoff. Still, I just plodded along, not wanting to overdo it. I averaged 9:38
