Mike and I got out early this morning, before the clouds cleared and things got hot. We ran at English Landing Park, alongside the swollen, but still contained, Missouri. They say that flooding won't occur until close to this time next week.
We're both reading books purporting to know the secrets of running into your 60s, 70s and beyond. The keys seem to be to start slowly and walk often. We've discovered that with relatively little practice, we can do both of those things pretty well.
So this morning we took our time churning out 8 miles (I went 8.86). We kept it pretty slow and walked just about every mile for a few seconds. The only split I ran very hard was mile 8, which I did in 8:26. That brought my overall pace to 10:10, which is just about right for a long run. Mileage for the week was 29.1.
