A long run

I had a day off today, so I took the time to drive up to Smithville Lake to run the trail there. Even though I got going fairly early in the day, it was already pretty warm and, because it had rained earlier in the morning, humid. When the clouds broke up, there was a lot of sun out there. But the trail is in the shade about 35 percent of the time, which helped a little.

I hadn't run for a couple of days and expected to have some extra spring in my legs, but I didn't, really. The whole run was kind of a slog, and I made frequent rest stops, especially in the second half of the run. I ended up doing 8 miles in 1:17, which is a 9:35 pace. I was glad I did it, but also happy when it was finished. The next one will be better.
