Wednesday, Sept. 16
Distance: 6.2 miles
Time: 56:02
Average: 9:03
Run type: Tempo
Location: Levee
Weather: 63, partly cloudy.
Aches: None.
Injuries: None
Session Notes: Perfect running conditions and a 24-hour recovery period from the Wednesday night run made this an enjoyable workout. My legs were 90 percent recovered from the Tuesday mistake, so I was able to comfortably work into a steady 9-min. pace and hold it without any real effort. I made no attempt to speed up, although on another day with a bit more rest this could have been a real fast run. I expect to be fully recovered by Friday night.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
Distance: 5.01 miles
Time: 48:53
Average: 9:45
Run type: easy
Location: South Platte Woods
Weather: 77, partly cloudy.
Aches: Everywhere.
Injuries: None
Session Notes: This was a very difficult "easy" run, because Tuesday's impromptu long run was a technical failure. Tuesday's run left my body dehydrated, my stomach sore from cramps and my legs dead and sore from overuse. So, today's easy run was intended to get the blood moving again and loosen up. I think it did that, but it was pretty much of a struggle all the way. My legs had no energy and were just plain sore from all the Saturday and Tuesday miles. Probably if I had kept properly hydrated on Tuesday I wouldn't have felt so bad. It was a mistake I paid for, that's for sure.
