Distance: 21.01 miles
Time: 3:17:10
Average: 9:24
Run type: long
Location: Downtown Airport and Berkely Riverfront park
Weather: 65 to start, sun behind hazy clouds. about 75 at the finish.
Aches: None.
Injuries: None
Observations: 1) Planes taking off and landing, especially the corporate jet, which was pretty loud. 2) Runners, bikers, more and more as the morning wore on. 3) The airport run, which I haven't done in two or three years, was a nice change of pace, but the loop is a little too short for a long run - just 3.75 miles 4) Berkely Park is a beautiful place and affords a very nice view of the river. When they get the trail under the Heart of America bridge finished it will be a real good place for any kind of run, but as it is now, the park loop is just 1.25 miles.
Session notes: I had a couple concerns about this run. 1. Would my ITB act up, and if it did, would I be forced to cut my workout short. 2. Would I have the energy to do 20 miles, considering I was apparently coming down with a cold and had had a rough previous evening with runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. I took one Celebrex before the run to help contain the inflammation in my ITB, and had no trouble with it at all. As for my cold, I had a restful night after taking some nighttime cold medicine and really don't feel like I've got a cold at all, now. It could be some kind of allergy; or maybe it is a cold that's waiting to hit hard yet this weekeknd.
