Adrenaline fueled

Thoughts: I spent the entire 85 minute run thinking about what could have been today. Justin narrowly missed almost certain death when the entire floor above his work area collapsed. Three people were hurt, but Justin had moved into the clear just seconds before the floor - and a forklift - crashed onto the spot where he had been standing.
I heard about the incident almost immediately when a co-worker picked up the report from the police scanner. He knew Justin worked at the plant and delivered the news to me right away. I tried to call Justin, but he didn't answer his cell phone. I then called his brother and discovered he was already talking to Justin, and Justin was OK. When I talked to him a minute later, he was acutely aware of how lucky he had been, and was shaken and emotional.
As the day wore on I talked to him several times, and finally decided that for his sake, and everyone else's, we all needed to get together, so we met at a restaurant in Grandview for dinner and a toast to his good fortune. He was still pretty emotional, but I think the dinner with the whole family helped settle all of us down.
My run helped me wrap my mind around what happened: When God decided it wasn't Justin's time, he didn't just spare a son, brother, sister-in-law and uncle. He spare us all.
Distance: 10.01 miles
Time: 1:25:10
Average: 8:31
Run type: Fast tempo
Aches: Sore muscles on the inside of both upper legs. I don't know what that muscle is.
Injuries: None.
Session notes: The events of the day produced a lot of adrenaline. I wanted to average 8:45 per mile, which is my goal pace, but I came in a lot faster than that. My slowest split was 8:44.
