Wow! A Saturday long run that took only 71 minutes. What luxury to have the whole day still in front of me!
My "long" run today was just 8 miles, as I am tapering for the marathon next week. My goal was to run it without really tearing down any muscle tissue. That means running below the exertion level. I succeeded most of the way, but true to form, I started pushing in the middle miles and ended up exerting a bit. I had a couple of miles faster than any I plan to run next week.
No big deal. It was a short run and by this time next week I will be completely rested and recovered.
Today's run was at an 8:45 pace, which interestingly enough is the exact overall pace I would need to qualify for Boston. Not that that's a goal.
