April 8, 2007

Today marked the last training run before the marathon, which is one week from today in St. Louis. My running buddy and I got up early and were under way by 7 a.m. It was cold, in the lower 20s, but the sun was shining and there was practically no wind, so it was quite pleasant. We set a slow pace and kept it that wayall the way, never once approaching a 9 minute mile. We averaged 10:42 for the run, which to its credit included a fair number of hills.
I let Mike set the pace, and it seemed awfully slow to me. I barely broke a sweat the whole time. But there really isn't any reason to go out and tear myself down at this point. The main thing is to go into the big race all healed and raring to go.
The next few days are just little loosen-up runs; nothing longer than 3 or 4 miles. Then comes Sunday.
