This was just an ordinary 5 mile run that turned out to be something a little special tonight. I could tell right away my legs were quite a bit fresher than they had been for the last few days. Funny, you tend to forget how much a 20-mile run takes out of you and how long it takes to rebound. I read somewhere once that it takes between 7 and 9 days to completely recover from a long run, and as of today I was only 5 days out from my 20 miler.
Tonight I started out with a 9:21 mile then just kind of coasted into a comfortable pace that resulted in four miles between 8:17 and 8:59. I cooled down with a 9:36 mile and then walked for a few minutes to the house.
That's one of the best 6 mile runs I've had in quite a while, and it makes me feel a bit more confident about the big event coming up in mid April. Maybe I will be ready after all.
