Up early

With the weather warming up, I've been getting out for a run in the mornings this week. It's still cool then, plus there's not as much traffic and there's the added benefit of seeing some wildlife.
After Monday night's 4-mile run with the Men's Running Club - it was hot and humid at 6:30 - I was back out on the streets Tuesday morning for 4.4 in my neighborhood. That run started out pretty slowly but finished up fast and my overall average pace was 9:02.
Then this morning I was out again, this time with the intention of doing a fast tempo run. I opened with a 9:35 mile, then improved my pace each succeeding mile, the last mile being 8:12. The average for the run 6.1 mile run was 8:45.
I've felt real good since last Saturday's half marathon. The next day I felt like I could have run another half, but I rested anyway. Monday night's run was real slow and served as a nice recovery workout. It probably facilitated my faster runs on Tuesday and Wednesday.
I feel so fit right now that I know I've reached the point where I have injured myself in other years by pushing harder and harder, just because I could. I really want to avoid that this time around, so for now I'll be careful with my mileage and intensity.
