| Mike and Rob after run in the snow |
It's cold, so I put on running socks and then wool socks, and covered those up with plastic bags to keep the moisture out and provide a wind shield. I put on heavy tights, and then my insulated gym pants. I added a long sleeve t-shirt, a heavy fleece and then an insulated wind blaster. The fleece and jacket were both zipped up to my chin. Next came a balaclava and stocking cap.
For my hands I put on a pair of light running gloves, and then slipped on my insulated mittens.
The most important piece came last: Yak Traks for my shoes. These things make the footing as secure as possible on ice and snow.
Not surprisingly, I was never cold. Our 1 - 2 turned into 3.66, and I was unzipping already at the one mile mark. We did not, could not, move fast, but even so it was a good workout navigating the deep snow and tire tracks on the residential route we took.
Afterward we coerced Kay to come out and take a photo so we could prove we ran outside despite the weather.
