Katy Trail

Three of us - Mike, Sean an I - rode the Katy from Rocheport to Columbia and back. It was a little cool early, but we warmed up quickly and were comfortable all the way. The ride out was taxing, since it was against a 8-10 mph wind, and we were happy to make it to Columbia for lunch and a rest. The ride back was more with the wind and went very fast. We did 36.63 miles in 3:04:32, an average of 11.9 mph. My Forerunner says we burned 2040 calories. Whoohoo!
This caps a four-day run during which I rode three times for a total of 82 miles. It feel good to get back out exercising, even though I would have to conclude that I'm not in the greatest shape anymore. Two of the three rides were technically difficult, and in both I wore myself out sooner than I think I would have two months ago. The days are shorter now, so my opportunities to ride will be limited to weekends, so conditioning will be harder to maintain. I hope to be able to start a running program in a few weeks.
