Dodging the rain

Four hours of rain came to an end here about 11:30 a.m., so I immediately headed out to get my weekly long run in. I couldn't wait, since another round of storms is expected later this afternoon and into the evening.
Since the sun never came out, it wasn't hot, but it was pretty humid for the 10-mile run. I think the temperature was around 63 while I was out there.
I felt pretty good for this run. Since I'd been up and moving around for several hours my legs and feet were nicely warmed up and ready to go. I had planned to pick a relatively flat course, but since I was under a bit of a time constraint (the car was being tinted and I had to be back to pick it up), I just took off from the house. That meant there'd be a lot more hills. No matter, I'm used to them.
My first mile was done in 9:19, and then all the rest were done in under 9. The overall average was 8:43. I didn't take anything with me to drink, so I was real thirsty by the time I got back. If it had been any hotter I would have had to take something with me.
That caps off a 30-mile week, the most miles I've logged in a week since the Little Rock Marathon. Overeall, I think I feel a little better physically if my mileage is close to 30, so I may try to keep it there most of the time, except when I'm tapering for some kind of race. I have a 10k coming up in two weeks.
