This is a welcome day off from running after the 7-mile cross-country race on Saturday and a 12-miler on Sunday.
Why a long one on Sunday? Well, I felt good and it was a nice day, and I hate to see precious nice days when I can run outside go to waste. Plus, this is another in a string of weird weeks with days that will be spent on the road and not at home, so you just get your runs in when you can. I'll still get my rest days in, because the end of the week will involve very little running.
After Thanksgiving I really need to try to stick to the training schedule and build my weekly mileage for my mid-March marathon.
These holiday weeks are really tough for aspiring half marathoners. It's so easy to just take a few days off and start back up later. It's a bad idea. You have to keep moving. Don't give in and give up any of the conditioning you've earned so far.
If you know anyone who's training for a half marathon, give her a shout of encouragement. Keep it up "J"! Stick with it "A"!
