Feb. 22, 2007
It looks like I'll be running the St. Louis marathon alone. My running buddy broke his wrist and is having surgery today. Since he'll have pins inserted, the doctor has told him he can't run for at least 6 weeks due to the risk of infection and further injury from jostling and the possibility of falling. Nevertheless, he is planning to go to St. Louis and support me, and I gotta like that.

I was at the gym last night and lifted weights. I planned to run 3 miles or so, too, but decided to head to the running store instead. I wanted to find new soles for my orthodics. Unfortunately, the store was already closed. The soles on my orthodics are two years old and all beat up, so they're starting to cause me some minor chaffing problems.

Rob,

Good luck with No. 3 -- and I am glad that RobRuns is back in action to follow your progress. I can relate to your "major shock to the legs" comment on your Feb. 20 post as I recently returned to the road after attempting to recover from my own marathon debacle last fall. It does feel great to be running again, though.

Have fun with your training.
